South Africa is a weakened side, but the arrival of Heinrich Klaasen gives them a boost. Their recent trend of losses is through a weakened side, but this time around they could make a dash with a number of hitters in the side. I am backing them to hit the most 6s of the match.
- Pakistan conceded the most 6s in their last 2 matches (ODIs).
- South Africa hit the most 6s in 4 of their last 7 matches (ODIs).
- Naseem Shah has 10 wickets from his last three matches in Karachi (ODIs).
- South Africa lost 5 matches in a row (ODIs).
Head to Head
Pakistan played South Africa in 86 ODIs so far, with 33 wins for Pakistan and 52 for South Africa. One match finished without any result.
The teams last played each other in a three-match series in South Africa last December, when Pakistan triumphed 3-0 against a weakened Proteas team.
Pakistan Form
Pakistan were trounced by New Zealand by 78 runs in the first match of this series in Lahore last Saturday. That left them requiring to win this match to progress to the final.
The Green Stars did well to restrict New Zealand to 232 for 5 after 44 overs but lost their grip by conceding 98 runs in the last six overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi (3 for 88) and Abrar Ahmed (2 for 41) were amongst the wickets.
The chase started well with Fakhar Zaman (84 off 69 balls) blazing his way through the initial overs, but once he fell in the 24th over, the game was lost for the home team.
Pakistan Team News
Haris Rauf left the field with a side strain in the first match and could be sitting this match out. Tayyab Tahir or Khusdil Shah may make way for Saud Shakeel.
South Africa Form
South Africa had a number of players unavailable due to their SA20 tournament and started with a six-wicket loss to New Zealand. They will have a few players like Klaasen, Tony de Zorzi, Corbin Bosch, and Kwena Maphaka back in the reckoning.
The Proteas were led by a breezy Matthew Breetzke (150 off 148 balls) at the top of the innings, but their score of 304 for 6 was below par, as they failed to make the most of the middle overs.
The bowlers couldn’t press for control, as the experienced Lungi Ngidi and Tabraiz Shamsi combined for figures of 16-0-116-0. Only Senuran Muthusamy (2 for 50) tried his best to give them a ray of hope.
South Africa Team News
Jason Smith may make way for De Zorzi if the latter is deemed fit to play. Corbin Bosch and Kwena Maphaka, along with Heinrich Klaasen, are also pressing for starts.

Verdict
South Africa lost their first match of the series with a ragtag team and could assemble another scrambled team here. Although Pakistan start with an edge because of that, I am backing the Proteas to hold an edge in the category of sixes.
