The top-order failed to spark, with the top three failing to score more than eight. There’s still enough depth in the batting order for the Proteas to rise and keep posting competitive totals.

With the ball too, there was enough from the spinners to lead the show as Peter and Linde combined to keep the runs to just 50 in their combined eight overs.

Pakistan was looking for a reboot after starting the series under Mohammad Rizwan's captaincy. They did well in the first match, but only in patches.

The Men in Green did well with the ball to restrict South Africa to 141 for 8 but let that slip in the latter stages. Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed took three wickets each to lead their charge.

The chase took off in the powerplay with Saim Ayub smashing his way to 31 off 15, but Rizwan (74 off 62) left it late and was perhaps one of the reasons they couldn’t mount a late push.
