South Africa have won three of their last four ODIs against Ireland. They have not met since 2021 when the Proteas emerged victorious by 70 runs.

Ireland have not played ODI cricket for some time with focus being on the T20 World Cup earlier this year. Thereafter they played one Test and two T20I games.
Their two-match T20 series against South Africa over the last few days ended 1-1. Ireland lost the first game but came back in the second to win by 10 runs.
