The 2025/26 Ashes series will see Australia welcoming England for a tour like no other, with the biggest rivalry in the game set to be renewed once again.
The Aussies arrived as the favourites to secure the urn once again, with the home side having kept hold of the bragging rights since a 4-0 win back in 2017/18.
Since then, the Aussies have drawn 2-2 in 2019, won 4-0 in 2021/22 and drawn 2-2 in 2023. Their home series have proved incredibly one-sided, with battling draws in England seeing them retain the urn.
This year, England arrive with Ben Stokes leading a strong squad that features Joe Root, Jofra Archer and Harry Brook. While the touring party are incredibly good on their day, they do have a batting wobble in them. Ollie Pope will be of particular interest to the Australian bowlers, with the number three hardly in sparkling form right now.
For the home side, Steve Smith will lead the likes of Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head with the bat, while Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon will look to lead with the ball.
The series began with the first of five Tests on November 21st in Perth. We will also be treated to the traditional Boxing Day's Test at the MCG and final match of the series at the SCG in the new year, with this series set to be the best yet.
The first Test in Perth ended in a stunning eight-wicket win for the Aussies that was built on two England batting collapses. The tourists could only post scores of 172 and 164 as they were denied a famous win in a match that lasted just two days. Ultimately, the Aussies held their nerve as Travis Head's 123 in the second innings won the home team the match.
The second Test once again ended in an eight-wicket win for Australia. This time, England were able to make their way to 334 all out with Joe Root finally ending his wait for a Test century in Australia as he top scored with 138 not out. However, Australia romped their way to 511 all out in their first innings before skittling England for 241. It was then left to Steve Smith (23 from nine) to ease his side to a big win.
With three games left to come, England have to win all three matches to reclaim the Ashes. Meanwhile, Australia only need one draw from the final three games to retain the urn.
