South Africa vs India Second T20I

After a comprehensive win in the first match of the series, India will look to put South Africa to the sword once again when the sides meet on Sunday. This match at St. George's Park in Gqeberha on Sunday will see the visitors look to double their 1-0 lead in the four-match series.

The World Champions are showing the way with their hard-hitting game play. With a number of big hitters in the lineup, they are well-placed to once again smash a number of sixes. That’s why I am backing India in the sixes market.

Head to Head

India and South Africa played 28 T20Is against each other, with 16 wins for India and 11 wins for South Africa. One match ended without a result.

The first match of the series in Durban was won by India by 61 runs. That made it three wins in a row for the Men in Blue against South Africa, dating back to December 2023.

South Africa Form

South Africa continued their poor form in the T20s, losing the first match by 61 runs. That made it six defeats from their last seven matches, although four of those losses came with a reshuffled side.

The Proteas couldn’t withstand Sanju Samson’s onslaught in the first match, and most of the bowlers conceded at ten or more runs per over. Only Gerald Coetzee (3 for 37) and Keshav Maharaj (1 for 34) were the better bowlers on view.

The chase never took on, and only three batters scored more than 20, but all scored between 21 and 25. They couldn’t face the Indian spinners, losing six wickets to the tweakers.

Aiden Markram spoke about tactical changes individually, which means they won’t mind continuing the same XI. If not, it could be one of Peter or Simelane making way for Ottneil Baartman.

India Form

India is the reigning World T20 Champions, but they are bracing up for this tour with a changed side. Suryakumar Yadav-led side has many IPL performers in the squad looking to make a mark.

The Men in Blue have won their last ten matches, excluding the tied game against Sri Lanka, which they won in the Super Over. Although this format isn’t the focus for India, they are putting their best foot forward.

That was evident in how Sanju Samson slammed 107 off 50 balls in the first match. That helped them post 202 for 8, which proved more than enough in the end. Varun Chakaravarthy (3 for 25) and Ravi Bishnoi (3 for 28) have stifled the Proteas in the chase, giving India a comfortable 61-run win.

India Team News

India could look to try Vijaykumar Vyshak or Yash Dayal at some point in the series, but that could be in the third T20I.

Verdict

India seems to enjoy playing this format with a liberated mind, and that is evident in how they are striking hard with big hits. They are likely to do so once again here, and that’s why I am backing India to score the most 6s.
