Major League Cricket
The Major League Cricket (MLC) is a relatively new league, sanctioned by USA Cricket, and operated by American Cricket Enterprises (ACE).
Six teams participated in the inaugural season, in 2023, which marked the official advent of cricket into the mainstream in the USA.
There were many attempts to form and subsequently launch the MLC, with the process beginning back in 2018. However, the official launch of the league in 2023, was announced only in November 2022.
The MLC, a league operated by the ACE, has official sanctions from USA Cricket as well as the ICC (International Cricket Council).
The ACE has backing from the founders of Willow TV, Sameer Mehta and Vijay Srinivasan, as well as the Times Group in India, from Satyan Gajwani and Vineet Jain.
Several notable investors have made financial investments in the MLC, to the tune of USD 120 million, including Shantanu Narayen, chairman and CEO of Adobe, and Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft.
The formation of the MLC dates back to 2018, when USA Cricket announced they were aiming to create a domestic T20 league with an estimated launch by 2021. After several complications to launching the MLC, including Covid-19, the league finally launched its first edition in 2023.
The MLC also announced a development program, called Minor League Cricket (MiLC), which would serve as a feeder to the MLC as well as to the USA national cricket team.
How To Stream The Major League Cricket
The MLC has various broadcasting partners across the world based on jurisdiction.
In the USA and Canada, you can stream the MLC on Willow TV, Monumental Sports Network (only for games with Washington Freedom) and YES Network (only for games with MI New York).
You can stream the MLC on Amazon Prime Video if you’re in Australia and New Zealand. Cricbuzz is streaming the tournament in the Middle East and North Africa.
In India, you can watch the MLC on the Sony Sports Network (TV rights) and Jio Cinema (digital rights). In Pakistan, you can catch the MLC on A Sports. TNT Sports is broadcasting the MLC in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
How To Bet On Major League Cricket
You can bet on the MLC on various platforms. Almost all sportsbooks have hundreds of markets for each match of the MLC.
You can bet on match winner (also called the moneyline), match handicap (predicting the margin of victory for an MLC match), top batter for each team, highest runscorer for every match, top wicket-taker, total boundaries hit (fours and sixes) and method of dismissal.
There are various formats of MLC betting, which include live or in-play betting, where you can bet on any available market after the start of a match. In live betting, odds fluctuate after every ball bowled.
You can also bet on an outright winner (also called futures) before the start of a tournament. On account of the higher risk you would likely be undertaking, you will have higher odds prices and a subsequent higher payout for a winning bet.

Format
The MLC is played in a round robin format followed by a playoffs series. This means that each team will face every other opponent at least once. The top four teams advance to the playoffs, which includes a qualifier, an eliminator and a final.
Every team needs to have a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 19 players on the squad. Each team also needs to have at least one under-23 domestic player and nine domestic players.
Each team is permitted up to nine international players on its roster. No more than six international players are permitted in the playing XI, with five domestic players to feature in each match and ten domestic players on each roster at all times.
