T20 Global Super League
Started only in the year 2024, the T20 Global Super League is a new league in the block of franchise T20 leagues. The only difference from the likes of IPL and Big Bash is that this tournament is between franchises from different countries.
The idea of the organisers is to have a tournament that will eventually replace the now-defunct Champions League for franchises.
Like the league’s chairman David Lloyd said, the aim of the first season is to provide a proof of concept for this tournament. The ambition is to provide a platform for a bigger tournament in 2025.
None of the IPL clubs are present in the first edition, and it’s unlikely that the BCCI will allow the Indian franchises to be part of the GSL.
Regardless, the new tournament is likely to ring some interest and help take forward the case of CLT20, which could be set for a relaunch.

The 2024 tournament of the T20 Global Super League was the first edition.
The Guyanese government is trying to position the nation as a destination for sports tourism, and this tournament is a first step in that direction.
The invitation-only five-team T20 competition that had the below teams for the first edition.

- Guyana Amazon Warriors
Rangpur Riders won the final, defeating Victoria by 56 runs to win the first edition. The GSL wants to launch itself into a full-fledged Champions League, but for now they are taking one step at a time.
