India vs England Third ODI
India won the battle of big hitters, winning both the ODIs against England with ease. The series is in the bag, and the hosts will now look to make it a whitewash when the teams meet for the final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

- India vs England Third ODI FAQs
England ran India close in both the ODIs, but the Men in Blue had an advantage, thanks to their batters and spinners. It could once again be the case in Ahmedabad, although England will fancy showing their batting might one last time. I am backing England to score the most 6s of the match.
- India conceded the most 6s in 3 of their last 5 matches against England (ODIs).
- England hit the most 6s in 4 of their last 8 matches (ODIs).
- England hit the most 6s in 4 of their last 5 matches played in India (ODIs).
Head to Head
India has played England in 109 ODIs so far, with 60 wins for the Men in Blue against 44 losses. There were two tied matches, while three had no result.
India won both the ODIs by four wickets, although in contrasting circumstances. The first match in Nagpur was won with more than 11 overs in hand, while the second one saw the match finish with 33 balls remaining.
India Form
India started this series with an eye on Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness, with the fast bowler pencilled to play this match. That’s not on the cards now, and India will be looking to find a replacement to prepare for the worst.
With the bat, Rohit Sharma stormed to form with a scintillating 119 in the second ODI. That leaves Virat Kohli as the one under the scanner as India looks to tick the boxes ahead of the Champions Trophy.
Ravindra Jadeja’s six wickets are the best for India in this series, with his ER (3.21) also the most frugal. Varun Chakaravarthy could get another game to further his claims of a place, should Bumrah be ruled out.
India Team News
Arshdeep Singh could get a game in place of Harshit Rana as Mohammed Shami continues his comeback to the national side. Rishabh Pant may get a game in place of KL Rahul, while Kuldeep Yadav could also be drafted in to get some game time.
England Form
England had their injury concerns, highlighted by their necessity to name assistant coaches Paul Collingwood and Marcus Trescothick as substitutes for the second match.
Ben Duckett (97), Joe Root (88), and Jos Buttler (87) have had decent outings in the series for the visitors. They would still be yearning for someone to crack the century code, as only four half-centuries were scored by English batters.
Among the bowlers, Adil Rashid (three wickets) seems to be their best in terms of impact, especially in the middle overs. Jamie Overton and Saqib Mahmood also aggregate two wickets each in the series.
England Team News
Tom Banton has been called up as backup, but it could be interesting to see if he plays. Jamie Smith is expected to return to the playing XI, while Archer, Wood, and Overton will hope for a second game in the series.

Verdict
Following from the T20s, India continued their stranglehold on England. Leading from the front are their spinners, who have managed to tangle England in a web during the middle overs. It still is England’s best chance to lead in the big hits and sixes. I am backing England to hit the most 6s.
