World T20 champions India continued their charming run in the format even with a changed side to defeat Bangladesh in the first T20I. The series now moves to Delhi, where the Arun Jaitley Stadium will host the second match on Wednesday night, IST local time.

The home team looked in control of the game in all aspects as they steamrolled the visitors in the first T20I in Gwalior. While the aggressive Indian outfit looks favorites once again, the visitors will look to close out the gap with improved performances. Can they do this here? I am not confident enough to back Bangladesh on the win scales. I am putting my money on India scoring the most sixes of the match.

There have been 15 T20Is between India and Bangladesh so far, with 14 wins for India and one victory for Bangladesh. The last six matches have been won by the ‘Men in Blue.’
In the first match, Bangladesh could only score 127 all out in 19.5 overs, with only two players scoring more than 12. The chase didn’t work in Bangladesh’s favor, as they lost out in 11.5 overs.
India Form
India is the reigning T20I World Champions but are playing with most of their regulars either rested or retired after the World Cup. That didn’t stop them from winning the first match by seven wickets with more than eight overs to spare.
The hosts saw Arshdeep Singh and the returning spinner Varun Chakaravarthy pick up three wickets each. It was also an encouraging debut for Mayank Yadav (1 for 21).
With the bat, it was an aggressive display of fireworks, as almost every batter scored at a SR of more than 150.

The only question in the Indian camp could be around Ravi Bishnoi’s chances and if he could get a game in place of Washington Sundar. Harshit Rana may have to wait for his debut unless the Indian management decides to keep Mayank Yadav wrapped in cotton wool.
Bangladesh Form
Bangladesh isn’t usually good in this format, and the loss in the first T20I is their fourth defeat in a row. That said, they won four of the five matches preceding this run, which is an indicator of how good they can be.
Captain Najmul Shanto rued the lack of batting prowess, saying that they are struggling to score 180 runs. That was evident in the first match, as nine of their batters failed to cross 12 runs.
Even with the ball, they looked out of touch as almost all the bowlers conceded in double digits economy rate.

Verdict
India started the first T20I with a playing XI that had less experience than Bangladesh. Yet they dominated all three departments of the game and ended up with a convincing win. Another victory looks likely for the hosts, but the odds aren’t too high. I am instead putting my money on India hitting the most 6s of the match.
