Multan struggled in the season and had nothing going for them so far. Another loss here could complicate things, but facing Quetta is perhaps a ray of hope. The Sultans could spring a surprise against the Gladiators.

Head to Head

There have been 13 matches between the Gladiators and the Sultans so far, of which nine were won by Multan and four by Quetta. It’s the Multan Sultans who enjoyed recent dominance with seven consecutive wins.

That included wins by 13 runs in Multan and by 79 runs in Karachi last season of the PSL.

Quetta Gladiators Form

Quetta Gladiators are fourth in the points table after 17 matches with six points (W3, L2). They are tied on points with the two teams above them – Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings – but have an inferior net run rate among the three.

The Gladiators had just one win from the first three matches but soon found their rhythm with consecutive wins over Karachi Kings (by five runs) and Peshawar Zalmi (by 64 runs).

Kusal Mendis (143 runs, SR 168.23) has been leading Quetta’s batting, while Abrar Ahmed (nine wickets, ER 8.05) remains their best shot with the ball.

Akeal Hosein and Sean Abbott offer a new dimension in terms of bowling options for the Gladiators, but will they bite the bullet?

Multan Sultans Form

After 17 matches, Multan Sultans are bottom of the points tally with two points to their name (W1, L5). The Sultans made it to each of the last four PSL finals, but their horrid start means they may have to win all the remaining matches to reach the playoffs.

The Sultans started with three consecutive defeats, but their win over Lahore Qalandars didn’t start their resurgence. They lost by seven wickets vs Islamabad United and by five wickets vs Lahore Qalandars.

Mohammad Rizwan (302 runs, SR 150.24) remains Multan’s best batter this season, although Usman Khan (212 runs) is doing his bit supporting him. Ubaid Shah’s nine wickets make him Multan’s best bowler of the campaign.

Multan Sultans Team News

Shai Hope and Josh Little had underwhelming campaigns so far, and that could open the door for Ashton Turner and David Willey to make comebacks.

Quetta Gladiators v Multan Sultans

It has been such a poor campaign for the Multan Sultans that they are already facing the threat of elimination. They need to keep winning from here on to keep alive their playoff hopes. I am putting my money on Multan springing a surprise.
