Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Chennai Super Kings IPL FAQs

Chennai are already eliminated, while Bengaluru are hovering around the top and nearly confirmed of their playoff spot. They would still want to stay near the top two positions. I am looking at Chennai’s dire record in sixes this season and backing RCB to hit the most maximums.

Bengaluru hit the most sixes in the match in 5 of their last 7 fixtures.
Chennai conceded the most sixes in 8 of their last 9 matches.
Chennai average a league-low 5.60 sixes per match this season.
CSK concede 9.30 sixes per match, and only SRH have conceded more.
RCB conceded 7.40 sixes per match, and only KKR have conceded fewer.

Head to Head

RCB and CSK have played each other 35 times, with the Bengaluru franchise winning only 12, while the Chennai side have 22 wins. One match ended without any result.

The sides met earlier in the season at the Chepauk Stadium when RCB broke their long-term jinx, defeating CSK by 50 runs. Rajat Patidar (51) held their innings together as RCB posted 196 for 7 batting first. Noor Ahmad (3 for 36) was Chennai’s best bowler. The chase was never on, and the Super Kings could only muster 146 for 8. Josh Hazlewood (3 for 21) was the star for RCB with the ball.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Form

After Mumbai’s win in the 50th match of the season, Bengaluru are second in the standings with 14 points (W7, L3) and are behind Mumbai only on net run rate.

With three teams below them separated by just two points, RCB aren’t yet confirmed of a top four finish. Form is on their side as Bengaluru won four of their last five matches, including three on the bounce.

Virat Kohli (443 runs, 6x50) has been a picture of concentration this season, while Hazlewood (18 wickets, ER 8.44) has been sensational with the ball.

Phil Salt missed RCB’s last game and could be back in the XI for this match. Romario Shepherd may make way, while there could be temptation to check the likes of Swapnil Singh and Manoj Bhandage.

Chennai Super Kings Form

Chennai are bottom of the points tally with four points (W2, L8) and are already eliminated from the playoffs race. They can still play a crucial part by spoiling the chances of a few franchises.

The Super Kings were beaten by Punjab Kings by four wickets in their last game, a third defeat in a row. Their last win came away from home, but overall, Chennai have been the laggards in this edition.

Shivam Dube (248 runs, SR 132.62) being their best batter sums up their troubles, while Noor Ahmad (15) and Khaleel Ahmed (14) have given something to cheer for their bowling unit.

Chennai Super Kings Team News

With their season done, CSK may look to give a few players a chance to impress – Andre Siddharth, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Rachin Ravindra may get a chance.

Verdict

Royal Challengers Bangalore v Chennai Super Kings

Chennai’s struggles are evident, and it would be a surprise if they can halt Bengaluru’s winning run. I am putting my money on RCB winning the battle of big hits.
