    Caribbean Premier League

The Caribbean Premier League is a T20 tournament, held annually in West Indies. The first edition of the competition was held back in 2013.

Plans for the Caribbean Premier League first began in September of 2012 as the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) announced a domestic league in the region to replicate the success of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Big Bash League (BBL). Soon after, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) was announced to take place in July 2013.

The inaugural champions of the CPL were the Jamaica Tallawahs while the most successful team in the history of the tournament are the Trinbago Knight Riders.

How To Stream The Caribbean Premier League

The CPL has distributed broadcasting rights from the first tournament ever to partners across the world including betting sites bet365 and Stake

In the USA and Canada, you can watch the CPL on Willow TV while TNT Sports will be broadcasting the tournament in the UK.

In India, television rights are with Star Sports while you can watch the competition from a digital app on FanCode.

In South Africa, Super Sport will broadcast the tournament, Sky Sport in New Zealand, Fox Sports in Australia and CCN TV6 in the Caribbean.

If you are located in any other part of the world, you can watch the CPL on YouTube or the official Facebook page of CPLT20.

How To Bet On Caribbean Premier League

There are many ways to bet on the CPL, which is a top-tier tournament covered by almost every bookmaker across the world.

The most popular market to bet on is the match winner, also called the moneyline, where you simply have to choose which team will win an upcoming match, including the Super Over.

There are plenty of other betting markets for you to consider, including match handicap (predicting the margin of victory), batter totals (choosing over or under from a predetermined handicap), top runscorer for each innings, top wicket-taker for each innings, innings totals and even which team will win the coin toss.

In the outrights market, you can also bet on the winner of the Caribbean Premier League tournament before the competition starts. Considering the higher risk you would be undertaking, you have access to higher odds and subsequently a higher payout if you get your bet correct.

Additionally, you can even bet live during a match. Almost all bookmakers provide live odds, which are updated after every ball, where you can bet after a match has begun.

    CPL Format

The CPL follows a double round robin format followed by a playoffs series. Typically, six teams participate in the CPL, with each team playing 10 matches in the round robin stage followed by four playoffs matches, including a final.

After the group stage, the top four teams qualify for the playoffs. The top two teams face each other in a qualifier, with the winner advancing straight to the final.

Teams that are positioned third and fourth play each other in an eliminator, with the loser knocked out of the competition.

The winner of the eliminator and the loser of the first qualifier play each other in the third playoffs game, with the winner moving on to the final.

    Teams

Six teams participate in the annual tournament. In the 2024 edition, a new franchise Antigua & Barbuda Falcons replaced the Jamaica Tallawahs, who won the tournament three times – in 2013, 2016 and 2022.

The CPL now has two defunct teams: the Antigua Hawksbills (2013-2014) and the Tallawahs (2013-2023).

    Current Teams:

    • Antigua & Barbuda Falcons
    • Barbados Royals
    • Guyana Amazon Warriors
    • St Kitts & Nevis Patriots
    • Saint Lucia Kings
    • Trinbago Knight Riders
