It has been an inconsistent season for the defending champions, and underlining that is their alternating sequence of loss and win. They are yet to win or lose consecutive matches this season.

Ajinkya Rahane (184 runs) has found some crucial runs, but the middle order has gone missing when needed. With the ball, Varun Chakaravarthy (six wickets, ER 6.57) seems to be on a planet of his own, while others seem to struggle for efficiency.
