Multan Sultans vs Peshawar Zalmi PSL FAQs

After two losses each, both Multan and Peshawar are struggling at the wrong end of the table. Peshawar have bigger problems to attack, as their loss margins of 80 runs and 102 runs indicate. I am leaning towards Multan winning here.

Multan won 7 of their last 9 matches against Peshawar.
Peshawar lost their 2 recent matches at this venue.
At this venue, Peshawar lost 5 of their last 8 completed matches.

Head to Head

Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi faced each other in 16 matches so far. Of these, 11 have been won by the Sultans, while five were won by the Zalmi.

Last season, these teams traded wins, with Peshawar winning by four runs at this venue, while Multan won by seven wickets in Karachi.

Multan Sultans Form

Multan Sultans are fifth in the points tally with zero points from their two matches, losing both. Their run rate of negative 1.411 is better than their opponents of this match, which saves them from the bottom place.

The Sultans lost by four wickets against the Karachi Kings, where they failed to defend their score of 234. The next match was a complete batting disaster, as they could score only 155 while chasing 203 against Islamabad.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan (143 runs, SR 158.88) remains their best batter, although no one else aggregated more than 60. With the ball, Akif Javed (three wickets, ER 10.25) has looked impressive but played just once.

Multan Sultans Team News

Akif could be brought back into the side, perhaps replacing Hasnain. Chris Jordan has been expensive (ER 12.13) and could be replaced by Gudakesh Motie or Joshua Little.

Peshawar Zalmi Form

Peshawar Zalmi remain rooted to the bottom of the points tally with no points after two matches. They have the worst run rate of the campaign with negative 4.550.

They lost to Quetta Gladiators by 80 runs in their first match, failing spectacularly in their chase of 217. In the second match against Islamabad, they conceded 243 before folding for 141.

Mohammad Harris (100 runs, SR 181.81) is the only batter to aggregate in triple digits for the Zalmi, whose next best batter is Saim Ayub (56). Bowling is a major concern with all the bowlers conceding at more than 10.50 runs per over.

Peshawar Zalmi Team News

Babar Azam has scores of 0 & 1 in the season, but Peshawar’s captain will be worried about his bowling. Is it time to bring in Luke Wood?

Verdict

Peshawar Zalmi v Multan Sultans - T20

Peshawar are pulled back because of a lack of runs from Babar, as well as their struggling bowling unit that has conceded more than 10.50 runs per over individually. Multan have also lost their first two matches but are perhaps in slightly better shape. I am putting my money on the Multan Sultans winning here.
