Multan Sultans vs Peshawar Zalmi PSL

It’s Mohammed Rizwan versus Babar Azam in PSL 2025 as the already eliminated Multan Sultans look to trip Peshawar Zalmi and hurt their playoff chances. This will be fixture #25 of the season and will be played at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday, May 5, from 8:30 pm IST onwards.

Multan Sultans vs Peshawar Zalmi PSL FAQs

It has been a nightmare campaign for the Sultans, who have just one win to their name. They will look to give their home fans something to cheer about, and I am backing them to spring a surprise here.

Multan won 12 of their 15 matches played at this venue.
Peshawar lost 6 of their last 9 matches.
Peshawar lost 2 of their 3 matches played here against Multan.
Peshawar lost 7 of their last 10 matches against Multan.

Head to Head

There have been 17 fixtures between Multan and Peshawar so far. The Sultans won 11, and the Zalmi won six of those. Recent history favours Peshawar with three wins from their last four encounters.

That includes a comprehensive 120-run win earlier in the season in Rawalpindi. Tom Kohler-Cadmore scored 52, and four others chipped in with aggressive 30s as Peshawar posted 227 for 7 batting first. The Sultans collapsed in a heap to be all out for 107 in 15.5 overs, with Usman Khan top-scoring (44 off 22). Ali Raza (4 for 21) and Arif Yaqoob (3 for 20) were Peshawar’s best bowlers that day.

Multan Sultans Form

The Sultans are bottom of the points tally with two points (W1, L7) and are already eliminated from the playoff race. They just have two games remaining, both at home, to salvage some pride.

Multan lost their four recent matches, and all by comprehensive margins – seven wickets, five wickets, ten wickets, and 87 runs. Their lone win has come against the Qalandars at this venue!

Regardless of their struggles, Mohammad Rizwan (346 runs, SR 140.08) has been their standout batsman. Ubaid Shah (11 wickets, ER 10.13) has been among the wickets but struggled to keep the runs down.

Chris Jordan continues to struggle, and this could be Multan’s chance to experiment with their side and blood youngsters.

Peshawar Zalmi Form

Peshawar are only just above Multan, fifth in the tally with six points (W3, L4). A win can take them level on points with fourth-placed Karachi Kings, although the Zalmi have an inferior net run rate.

Zalmi are coming off a stunning six-wicket win over Islamabad United, but their season has been inconsistent. Alternating results over the last six matches (W3, L3) have stopped them from surging in the table.

Only Mohammad Haris (223 runs, SR 158.15) has been able to consistently score this season for Peshawar. Alzarri Joseph (11 wickets, ER 8.78) has been their highest wicket taker, although Arif Yaqoob (five wickets, ER 5.63) has been frugal.

Peshawar Zalmi Team News

Peshawar could retain the same team that won against Islamabad unless there are any last-minute withdrawals.

Verdict

Multan Sultans v Peshawar Zalmi

Multan Sultans have had an abject season, but finishing at home should give them some hope. Their form at this venue is inspiring, which should cause a concern for Peshawar. The Zalmi have been inconsistent this season, and I am backing Multan to take full advantage of this.
