Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL

Rajasthan Royals will hope they can make their home venue of Jaipur a fortress as they host Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first match of this season at this venue. This is match #28 of the IPL 2025 season and will be played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Sunday from 3:30 pm IST.

Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL FAQs

Both teams are separated by just two points, but the Bengaluru side is in a better position. The Royals need to improve on many counts, but can they do that at their home venue? This match could see some big hits, and I am backing at least 18 sixes to be scored in this fixture.

Rajasthan average 10.40 sixes per match in this campaign.
RCB hit 10.20 sixes per match this season.
In 2 of their last 3 matches, RCB have seen at least 20 sixes scored.

Head to Head

The Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have played each other in 31 matches, with 14 wins for RR and 15 wins for RCB, while two ended without any result.

The Royals won the last two times they played in the previous season, with a six-wicket win in Jaipur and a four-wicket win in Ahmedabad. At this venue, they have won four of their last five matches against the Royal Challengers.

Rajasthan Royals Form

The Rajasthan Royals have four points from their five matches and are seventh in the standings before Friday’s matches. They are coming off a 58-run loss to the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

Sanju Samson has teed off in the recent matches and is now their highest run scorer (178 runs, SR 150.84). Concerns remain over the consistency of other batters, though.

The bowling duties are shared as well, with as many as five bowlers taking five or six wickets. Economies remain a concern with all the bowlers conceding at least nine runs per over.

Rajasthan Royals Team News

Wanindu Hasaranga missed the last match due to personal reasons but could be available here to replace Fazalhaq Farooqi. Shubham Dubey may continue to be their impact player.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Form

RCB are third in the standings before Friday’s match with six points from five matches. They have lost two of their three recent fixtures, though, including a six-wicket loss to Delhi at home last time.

Captain Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli top their run charts with 186 runs each, but lack of support from Devdutt Padikkal and Liam Livingstone casts a shadow over their chances. That has meant good starts by Phil Salt have been undone sooner than later.

The bowling duties are led by Josh Hazlewood (eight wickets, ER 8.65), but they continue to struggle with a proper third and fourth seamer.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Team News

RCB are showing trust in backing Livingstone and Padikkal, which meant the likes of Jacob Bethell and Manoj Bhandage have had to settle on the bench.

Verdict

Rajasthan Royals v Royal Challengers Bengaluru - T20

The Royals are going through a rough patch as they seem to struggle in finding the right team balance. Bengaluru are only slightly better, and a loss here would see both teams be equal on the points tally. While the visitors hold an edge, I am dipping into the sixes market and backing this match to be an exciting encounter. Over 16.5 total sixes remain my prime pick.
