    Teams & Format

The Hundred is a competition that sees teams battle in games with a maximum of 200 balls bowled. Each side can bat for a maximum of 100 balls, while each side can field for a maximum of 100 deliveries. With games lasting around two and a half hours, this is one of the shortest formats of the game.

The competition sees eight sides playing a total of 32 matches. Each team plays four home games and four away games, with this also including a second bonus match against a team's nearest rival.

The team finishing at the top of the table goes straight into the final, with the sides in second and third battling in an eliminator to make the final.

The current tournament includes the following teams:

    • Birmingham Phoenix
    • London Spirit
    • Manchester Super Giants
    • Sunrisers Leeds
    • MI London
    • Southern Brave
    • Trent Rockets
    • Welsh Fire

The competition has been played since 2021 and has been building up an impressive fan base. Some questioned whether another format of the game was necessary as it then saw new rules brought into play which could become confusing for fans.

Questions around the new format was perhaps loudest due to the huge success of the Indian Premier League and Australian Big Bash League, with both played in the established Twenty20 format. However, the hundred ball format has proved popular, with fans turning out in their droves to watch a range of top class talent play cricket.

Key players across the tournament include major English names such as Joe Root, Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, Harry Brook, Adil Rashid and Phil Salt. Some world class overseas talent has also taken to the competition, with Faf du Plessis, Steve Smith, Trent Boult and Rashid Khan all making their mark.
    • Top Batter: When you throw players like Jos Buttler, Aiden Markram, Harry Brook, Jacob Bethell, Jonny Bairstow, Tristan Stubbs, Mitch Marsh, Finn Allen and Phil Salt into one competition, there will be fireworks. The competition itself champions big hitting and while there are some world class bowlers taking to the field, the bat will likely have the advantage over the ball.
    • The Hundred Winner: The Hundred has been a tournament that has been dominated by MI London, with the side winning three competitions in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Southern Brave and Trent Rockets have also won, but the focus will be on stopping MI London. While the side have won their last three outings at the tournament, no side is invincible, which makes this market even more interesting.
